What are you going to do?
As a Lab manager Biology, you lead a team of 20 analysts with backgrounds in molecular and microbiology. As a people manager, you conduct one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and help guide the team in their development. You foster teamwork and encourage individuals to bring out their best. At the same time, you are closely involved in process improvements in the lab. Together with other management team members, you shape a forward-looking biological laboratory in a role where you can also continue to grow.

Your responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily management and coordination of the Biology department
• Leading a team of 20 analysts, focusing on their personal and professional development
• Initiating and guiding technological advancements with a particular focus on molecular and DNA techniques
• Ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 quality policy and safety policy
• Managing the department’s budget and financial planning, as well as purchasing, maintenance, and upkeep of laboratory equipment
• Close collaboration with other departments and contributing to long-term strategic plans

What do we ask?

We ask the following of a Lab manager Biology:

• Completed laboratory education at a minimum of HLO level in Biology or a related field
• At least 5-10 years of relevant experience as a laboratory manager
• Extensive experience working according to ISO quality standards, particularly ISO 17025
• Experience in designing and managing change processes, preferably in ICT and LEAN
• Experience with the following techniques is a strong plus: RT-PCR, Flow Cytometry, NGS
• You are an enthusiastic, communicative, and authentic team player who inspires trust
• Open to innovative strategies and ideas, taking the lead in these areas
• Fluent in both Dutch and English

4200 - 5898 per month
one-year contract with option for permanent

• Salary range of €4200 to €5898 gross per month based on full-time
• Monthly flexible budget of 22%
• Flexible working hours

Our client conducts high-quality research on water. They are a leading laboratory—also in an international context—and are therefore strongly focused on collaboration with knowledge institutions both domestically and internationally. Approximately 100 employees work at our client’s organization.

Via CheckMark een nieuwe uitdaging gevonden in een andere branch, bij Royal Talens in Apeldoorn. Telefonisch een goed eerste gesprek gehad over de vacature, gevolgd door een verdiepende Microsoft Teams-meeting (fijn om elkaar aan te kijken tijdens een gesprek). Uitgebreid gesproken over de vacature, maar ook over wat ik zocht en hoopte te vinden in een nieuwe uitdaging.
