We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Manager to oversee all maintenance operations at our flagship factory in Nijmegen. In this role, you will lead a high performing team of technicians, ensuring the reliability of production equipment and facilities while adhering to safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for planning and executing repairs, managing inventory, and maintaining the factory’s maintenance budget. What will you do? Main activities & duties: Maintenance Management : Develop, implement, and optimize a preventive and predictive maintenance strategy to ensure plant equipment operates reliably and efficiently to ensure the 24/7 production processes and ensures the desirable functioning and improvement of the machinery, installations. Lead and manage all maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on minimizing unplanned downtime. Analyse equipment performance, identify failure patterns, and implement solutions to improve reliability and reduce operational disruptions. Coordinate maintenance schedules in collaboration with production teams to minimize the impact on plant operations. Lead change by envisioning the future, planning change, and managing transitions to continuously adapt to a dynamic business environment. Bring best practices to the company by aligning stakeholders to understand the implementation of standards and ideas for improvement from inside and outside the organization. Team Leadership & Development : Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of maintenance technicians, store personnel, and utility operators to achieve high performance and continuous improvement. Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team is up to date with best practices, technical skills, and safety standards. Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and regulatory guidelines. Builds a high performing team with capabilities needed to execute the strategic business plans and provides input into technical career development and leveraging engineering talent across teams. Safety, Compliance & Environmental Management : Lead and act as a role model to improve employee safety and EHS- and GMP practice and compliance. Ensure all maintenance, store management, and utility operations comply with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP), health and safety regulations, and environmental policies. Takes appropriate actions when non-conformities of materials and maintenance processes are signaled. Ensure and monitors the implementation and compliance of safety and quality policies, so that product quality is assured and personal injuries and environmental damage is prevented. Conduct regular safety audits, address risks proactively, and ensure compliance with safety practices and standards in the maintenance, store, and utility areas. Reliability Engineering : Apply reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices to maximize the life cycle of assets and enhance overall system performance. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and oversee the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Continuously improve maintenance practices through data analysis, performance metrics, and system upgrades. Utility Management : Oversee the operation and maintenance of all plant utilities, including electricity, water, compressed air, HVAC, refrigeration, and waste management systems. Implement strategies to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs, ensuring compliance with environmental and sustainability standards. Ensure that utility systems are properly maintained, minimizing the risk of failures and unplanned outages. Work with external vendors and contractors for utilities-related maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Store Management (Spare Parts Inventory) : Manage the spare parts inventory (store), ensuring that critical parts are always available while minimizing overstocking and excess inventory. Develop and maintain accurate stock control procedures to track the usage and replenishment of spare parts. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of parts and manage relationships to optimize pricing and lead times. Regularly audit spare parts inventory for accuracy and consistency with records. Who are you? Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and reliability management, preferably in the food manufacturing or process industry. In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance, reliability engineering, utility systems, and inventory management. Experience with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP) and environmental compliance standards is a nice to have. What do we offer?
