Job description
The EUR-wide Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) programme aims to create equal opportunities and an inclusive learning and working environment for all students and staff at Erasmus University. The programme consists of a D&I office, several project managers, a programme manager and a Chief Diversity Officer.
We are looking for a proactive communication advisor to focus on engagement with regard to (topic of) diversity and inclusion and to activate and unite the EUR community in this field. Together with the D&I team, you ensure that staff (including other communication employees) and students get inspired and stimulated to become involved in diversity and inclusion, so that it becomes an integral part of EUR. This must help boost the visibility of the subject, the results of the D&I programme and to promote a cultural change within the university. You do this stationed at the D&I office for the most part, with a small part of your appointment at the central Marketing & Communications Unit.
We are looking for a professional with a great deal of energy, drive and enthusiasm for this subject, with a sense of the political and administrative context and relationships.
In this position, you are responsible for communicating Diversity and Inclusion:
- You implement the existing communications strategy of D&I.
- You monitor the positioning of the topic of D&I, and ensure that the D&I programme and the office are visible inside and outside EUR.
- You give project managers, the programme manager and the Chief Diversity Officer communications advice in relation to (results of) D&I projects, and help execute those advices to fulfil the communication in a satisfactory manner.
- You maintain relations with M&C central unit to contribute to the D&I goals.
- You programme and organise meetings and events.
- You develop communication media, write and edit texts for various target groups and media (website, intranet, social media, newsletters) in line with strategic outlook on the topic.
- You handle general press questions and interview requests. Where necessary, you work together with the spokesperson(s) from the university.
You have a clear, quick, concise, dynamic writing style and you speak and write to a high level (in both English (CEFR level C2) and Dutch). You have a university degree in Communications or Marketing and at least three years experience with communications in cultural change projects. You are experiences in the use of online and social media (with text and images). You are proactive, a real self-starter, good at organising and you like to work in a team, focused on results. The work is very diverse and requires tactical insight, organisational sensitivity and a practical approach. And we naturally expect you to be very interested in diversity and inclusion. Knowledge of the academic world is an advantage.
Conditions of employment
An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will be based at the D&I Office/ABD in Rotterdam, Woudestein campus. The position is for 0,8 to 1 FTE. The successful candidate will be offered a one year contract with Erasmus University Rotterdam. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of €2.846 to a maximum of €4.490 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 10 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more. As an employee, you can also use EUR facilities such as the University library and receive a discount on subscriptions for the Erasmus sports center.
