We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our dynamic Neuroscience research team as an Assistant Professor. Our lab focuses on cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and we are passionate about advancing our understanding of synaptic function and neuronal plasticity in the context of cognition, dementia, and psychiatric disorders. Previous work of the group has led to new insights in plasticity mechanisms in the brain. Special emphasis has been on mechanisms that modulate synaptic plasticity in relation to adaptive and maladaptive memory formation, storage and retrieval. ResponsibilitiesResearch Leadership: Develop your own research line within Neuroproteomics. Supervision: Supervise PhD students and post-docs. Teaching: Participate in the Science faculty teaching program. Specifications €4332—€5929 per month Amsterdam Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) Requirements Key QualificationsExpertise: You are an expert in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics. Experience and Familiarity: You have several years of experience working with mass spectrometry and proteome analyses, including sample processing and downstream data analysis pipelines. Ambition and Contribution: You are driven to contribute to frontier Neuroscience research. Track Record: Your proven track record includes publishing and grant acquisition in the field of Neuroproteomics. Research Independence: You can formulate your own research questions and design experiments using proteomics approaches. Advantageous ExperienceSpecialized Fields: Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: Interaction proteomics Identification of posttranslational modifications Crosslinking and/or proximity labeling Spatial proteomics Synaptic Proteome Interest: You have a strong interest in investigating and understanding the synaptic proteome, a key research area within the MCN lab. So in return for your efforts, we offer you: a salary of minimum € 4.332,00 (Scale 11) and maximum € 5.929,00 (Scale 11) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Lecturer / Asisstant Professor 2. The exact salary depends on your education and experience. This is a career track position; the initial appointment will be for a period of 1.5 years, which will be turned into a tenured position after the initial period, if the performance indicators agreed at the start of the appointment are met. We also offer you attractive fringe benefits and regulations. Some examples: A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis.
