Job objective

The Senior GL Accountant will perform the general accounting work in a timely and accurate manner, in compliance with local GAAP and tax requirements. As a Senior GL Accountant, you will analyze accounts as well as prepare monthly reports, financial statements, statistical reports and tax reports. You will assist in the development and implementation of department policies, procedures, and programs in assigned areas. In addition, you will advise management and employees in your areas of expertise and assist internal and external customers.

Duties and responsibilities

Ensure all the accounting transactions are recorded timely and accurately with a high standard of supporting documentation
Review the accounting entries performed by other team members and perform accounting entries such as accruals and reclassifications as needed to ensure compliance with local GAAP and tax requirements. Such entries could include intercompany movements, fixed assets, deferred assets, payroll, allocation of expenses, and adjustments of reserves and provisions

Prepare consolidation and financial statements in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with the local GAAP
Perform and review reconciliations regarding Balance Sheet accounts, that includes to explain and possibly adjust the outstanding balances
Ensure that the accounting and tax documentation is updated and maintain the traceability of it, in order to support the accounting and the taxes in proper way

Provide support in external audits
Actively participate and support of the improving accounting process into the ERP

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in economics
At least 5 years of experience in general accounting: month end closes, account reconciliations, and reporting. Capable of managing the month end close activities independently

Experience in compiling consolidations and financial statements
Experience in working in international matrix organization, preferably SSC experience
Knowledge of (international) accounting principles
Ability to work under pressure and a high degree of ability to define priorities
Able to coordinate all activities performed by accounting team, meeting all deadlines
Oriented to detail and organized
Proactive and with a high sense of teamwork
Focused on process improvement
Solid analysis and information processing skills
Desirable experience in Exact, Qlikview, Power BI
Advanced Excel experience
Proficiency in Dutch and English (both spoken and written)
