The Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies of the Erasmus University Rotterdam invites applicants for
an Assistant professor position
in
Methodology and Statistics
. As an assistant professor in Methodology and Statistics (M&S) you will contribute to teaching (60%) as well as research (40%) in the section of M&S of the department.

The M&S section consists of about ten motivated colleagues ranging from PhD candidates to assistant, associate and full Professors. Together they enthusiastically coordinate and teach the statistics courses in the Bachelor and Master programmes of Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences, with emphasis on Bachelor courses. You will contribute to the teaching and coordinating of these courses in close cooperation with your M&S colleagues. Because the courses are taught to Dutch ánd international students, it is important that you have the ability to communicate in Dutch as well as in English orally and in written form at C1 level. You will also contribute to and collaborate on projects within the section’s research program, which is mainly (but not exclusively) focused on the development and the application of methodology and statistical techniques within our research themes: a) Meta-analysis & Replication research, b) Experienced Sampling Methods and, c) Evidence based research & Validation. Collaboration with researchers from other disciplines is highly valued.

In accordance to the Faculty standards, you will be required to publish in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed academic journals in the area of methodology and (applied) statistics, acquire research funding and disseminate scientific knowledge.

Requirements
  • You have a PhD in statistics, psychological methods, psychometrics or a related field;
  • You have prior teaching experience and the proven ability to inspire students;
  • You are in possession of a Basic Qualification Teaching (BKO) or you are willing to achieve this qualification.
  • You have high quality scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • You have experience in carrying out scientific research independently;
  • You have experience in acquiring research grants;
  • You have excellent written and oral skills both in Dutch and English.
Conditions of employment
Internationally-oriented and varied work within an enthusiastic team, with attractive fringe benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Your initial employment term will be for one year, but this may be extended if your performance proves satisfactory. Your remuneration will depend on the position, your specific knowledge and experience It will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between EUR 3.746,- and 5.826,- gross per year (salary scale 11/12, CAO NU ). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days in case of a full work week. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave. For international spouses we have set up a dual career programme. Moreover, EUR staff members are allowed to make use of the EUR facilities, including the Erasmus sports centre and the University Library.
