Are you a materials engineer, polymer scientist, or equivalent with formulation experience? We are looking for a scientist to develop a pressure sensitive adhesive and bring it to market (rubber based).
Job Description
Our client is an international material science and manufacturing company that specializes in the development and manufacturing of materials used in nearly every industry. These materials include adhesives, tags, tapes, labels, embellishments, radio frequency identification solutions and pressure sensitive materials for industrial, medical, and retail applications. They are currently looking for an experienced polymer scientist/engineer, polymer physicist, material scientist/engineer, or equivalent to join their operation in Leiden and help develop a pressure sensitive adhesive. In addition, they are looking for someone with a strong customer focus to help bring this product to the market.Responsibilities
- Develop new technology for pressure sensitive adhesives including rubber based hotmelts, acrylics, and polyesters.
- Develop and implement complete technical project plans, lead project teams, and report to R&D and business leadership.
- Through hands-on experiments and accompanying characterizations, gain a working understanding of synthetic and formulation methodologies for hotmelt adhesive systems.
- Collaborate with our business intellectual property counsel and other scientists regarding the rights to market, patent applications, and office actions.
- Drive ongoing scientific understanding by sharing knowledge with scientist worldwide.
Requirements
- Academic degree (preferably a PhD) in Polymer Science or Engineering, Polymer Physics, Material Science (or equivalent).
- 4-8 years of demonstrable experience in similar positions in the ink, paint, or coatings industry, especially working with the label, tape, or graphics industry.
- Demonstrable experience leading successful development projects from conceptualization to implementation coordinating pilot and plant trials and collaborating with marketing.
- Strong customer focus and ability to translate customer needs into product performance.
- Experience and proven track record with laboratory best practices and commitment to safety culture.
- Excellent written and spoken command of English.

- Salary indication: from approximately € 7000 to € 8500 gross per month
