Interim lab Manager

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the environmental testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with quality control standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Oversee and coordinate testing activities to meet client deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of test results.
• Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize efficiency and maintain high-quality standards.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to lab technicians, including training, performance evaluations, and ongoing development.
• Maintain inventory of lab supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring their availability to support testing operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, customer service, quality, and research and development, to ensure effective communication and resolution of client inquiries or issues.
• Stay updated with industry advancements, trends, and regulatory changes related to environmental testing, and implement necessary modifications to maintain compliance.
• Monitor and track lab performance metrics, including turnaround time, accuracy, and productivity, and generate periodic reports for management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in managing an environmental testing laboratory or similar testing facility.
• Strong knowledge of environmental testing methodologies, regulatory requirements, and quality control standards.
• Familiarity with a wide range of analytical instruments and equipment commonly used in environmental testing labs.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in data analysis and report writing, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and best practices in a laboratory setting.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
