Senior Backend Engineer

EclecticIQ is a global provider of threat intelligence technology and services. The most targeted organizations in the world – including governments and large enterprises – use our platform to automate intelligence management at scale and accelerate collaboration across security teams.Our platform backend is built in Python, with service dependencies such as PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis, along with libraries such as Flask, SQL Alchemy, and Celery. We are a team of experienced and motivated software engineers, passionate about working in a multicultural start-up environment, with proven expertise in building scalable and robust cloud-agnostic software, that can be either hosted for our customers (SaaS), or packaged and deployed on-premises (VMs, k8s). We follow industry standards like STIX and TAXII, and we contribute to open-source projects that maintain and advance these standards.You will be contributing to the development of the platform and will be expected to have high quality skills in Python, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch. You should have hands-on experience with building a microservices-based architecture, and be comfortable working directly with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, and GitHub Actions. You will work closely with the development and architecture team and teams spread across functions like UI, QA and Customer Support. Having cybersecurity domain knowledge is a bonus.What does it take?Minimum of 5 years of relevant experienceKnowledge of Python (including ecosystem)Ability to write clean, readable code together with unit and integration testsExpertise in building server-side applicationsKnowledge of best practices on building APIsExperience with storing and processing substantial amounts of dataHands-on experience with SQL, Git, and DockerSystematic problem-solving approachAbility to drive things to closure with minimal supervisionExcellent written and spoken English skillsEffective communication skills and ability to productively collaborate within and outside of the Engineering teamNice to have:Experience with complex data structures and application profilingExperience with implementing data exchange protocolsCybersecurity domain knowledgeExperience with Flask, SQL Alchemy, Celery, and KubernetesThis role is based in The Netherlands, however we will consider candidates currently living in the UK or in a EU country.
