Process Safety Engineer

About the Unit

You will report to the Lead of Process Safety and be located in the HESQ Department.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and apply knowledge of current process safety related policies, regulations and industrial processes;
• Support in organization and follow up of the yearly SEVESO inspections and make sure that Yara Sluiskil is allligned with the SEVESO directive;
• Assist the production plants on site for process safety studies,for example HAZOP’s and LOPA/SIL assessments;
• Provision of specialist expertise in all areas of process safety for example ATEX and industrial radioactive devices;
• Support process safety discipline during Management of Change process;
• Manage the high potential process safety investigation process and when required, lead and participate in process safety related incident investigations;
• Development and delivery of training in Process Safety;
• Participate in the Yara internal and external audit program;
• Ensure knowledge of hazard and risk identification is understood and managed across the Yara sites;
• Development, support and maintain process safety aspects of Functional Safety Management System (FSMS).

Profile

• This position requires a Master of Science degree, ideally within Chemical Engineering;
• Professional Engineer with at least 3 years experience in process or equipment design and/or operations with specific experience in Process Safety;
• Familiarity with risk identification and reduction techniques, in addition to familiarity with failure mechanisms, protection systems and their design;
• Knowledge of process safety regulations and legislations;
• Your mothertongue is Dutch and you are fluent in English, both verbal and written;
• Good interpersonal and analytical skills, with an open mind and high motivation.
