Mechanical Rotating Equipment Engineer

What are you going to do?

We are seeking a Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our team and support the Technical Authority in overseeing the mechanical rotating equipment within our Engineering and Projects division. Your role will involve assisting the TA with a wide range of tasks across both onshore and offshore assets, primarily focusing on mechanical rotating equipment and ensuring its effective performance in safety-critical and production-critical systems.

In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the technical integrity of rotating equipment like turbines, compressors, engines, and pumps, helping to ensure everything complies with both internal and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for providing design assurance, technical evaluations, and performance assessments related to rotating equipment, among other key duties outlined below.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Equipment Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the TA in addressing key issues related to the performance, risks, and failure of rotating equipment.
• Supporting rotating equipment projects, including commissioning, reliability enhancements, performance upgrades, and life extension for both onshore and offshore facilities.
• Contributing to the development of temporary repair solutions and refurbishing defective rotating equipment on operational assets.
• Assisting with vendor documentation, as well as FAT and SAT reviews, within project scopes for rotating equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with rotating equipment performance standards, particularly for critical systems such as Hydrocarbon Containment (SECE 01.4).
• Performing analyses and calculations to support rotating equipment performance and design integrity.
• Troubleshooting issues and participating in Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures.
• Guaranteeing that all new or modified rotating equipment adheres to design codes and specific requirements set by the client.

 
 

What we are looking for?

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with at least three years of experience in rotating equipment, ideally in industries such as oil & gas, offshore, marine, chemical, or process engineering.
• Proficiency in both Dutch and English.
• Experience or theoretical knowledge in at least three of the following equipment areas: gas turbines, compressors (kinetic and positive displacement), pumps, diesel engines, and firefighting systems.
• Competence in using commercial software or numerical tools for rotating equipment analysis, as well as the ability to conduct manual calculations.
• Experience with condition monitoring tools and related analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with key design codes and standards for rotating equipment.
• Experience with safety assessments, tender evaluations, and commissioning processes, such as Hazid, Hazop, FATs, and SATs.
• Understanding of performance standards for safety-critical and environmental equipment (SECE).
• Willingness to travel to both onshore and offshore sites as needed.
• Residence in the Netherlands.
