Senior Research Assistant (several posts)

Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Research Assistant (several posts) in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 523597) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)Applicants should have a Master’s degree in biological sciences, medical sciences or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ working experience in virology laboratories. They should have substantial experience in (i) processing clinical and animal specimens in BSL-2 and BSL-2+ environment; (ii) operating manual and automatic nucleic acid extraction platform; (iii) performing RT-PCR tests, full genome PCR amplification, library preparation, and next generation sequencing (NGS); and/or (iv) conducting NGS analysis using Linux system. Experience in maintaining cell lines, virus culture, equipment maintenance and inventory system is a bonus. They should be responsible, self-motivated and diligent. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointments on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.The University only accepts online application for the above posts.
