The Chip Integration Technology Center (CITC) in Nijmegen is a leading non-profit innovation center. Established in 2019 with strategic partners TNO and Delft University of Technology, and supported by local and regional governments, CITC is ideally located on the Noviotech Campus in Nijmegen, at the heart of the Dutch semiconductor industry.

Chip Integration Technology Center (CITC)
What will you be doing?
As an R&D Scientist in Advanced Semiconductor Chip Packaging, you will be at the forefront of developing next-generation high-performance chip packaging solutions for applications such as automotive radar, photonics, and power electronics. Your expertise will contribute to CITC’s fan-out packaging platform, leveraging deep knowledge in large-area processing, thin-film electronics, and additive manufacturing.You will be involved in designing, fabricating, and characterizing advanced semiconductor packages, collaborating with leading industry partners and multidisciplinary experts. A key aspect of your role is to translate industry needs into innovative technology solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize advanced semiconductor packaging technologies for high-performance applications.Design, fabricate, and conduct reliability testing of next-generation semiconductor packages.
Perform experimental research and process modeling to enhance manufacturability and reliability.
Collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders to align R&D efforts with market needs.
Generate intellectual property (IP) and contribute to scientific publications.
Work on process development and technology innovation for heterogeneous integration.
Engage in multidisciplinary collaborations and work with leading industry players in the semiconductor sector.
Mentor and support junior researchers, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and innovation.
What we expect from you
A Master’s degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.At least 5 years of R&D experience in advanced semiconductor chip packaging (experience with fan-out packaging technologies is a plus).
Strong expertise in reliability testing, process modeling.
Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

The selection process

Jeroen van den Brand received his M.Sc. (2000) and Ph.D (2004) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. From 2004 until 2007 he worked at FujiFilm in Tilburg, the Netherlands on the development and roll-to-roll manufacturing of offset printing plates. In 2007 he started at Holst Centre as a Researcher where over the years he had various roles. Since 2018, Jeroen is Research Manager of the Hybrid Printed Electronics department. Next to this, Jeroen has a guest professorship at the University of Ghent, Belgium on the topic of Printed Electronics.
