Turner (Conventional / NC)

At Den Breejen Shipyard, shipbuilding is in our blood. Founded in 1947 and located in Hardinxveld-Giessendam ever since, we have grown to become a key player in the inland shipping sector, both for new construction, repairs, and refits. Our specialization in the construction of river cruise ships has gained us international recognition. We design, develop, and build fully 'custom-built' vessels and are based in a modern facility with a well-equipped company site (including outfitting quays and dry docks) directly adjacent to the Merwede River, one of the main waterways in the Netherlands. What are your duties?
As a Lathe, you will work on high-quality parts and structures that are essential for our shipbuilding projects. Besides completely new construction of inland navigation vessels and repair of ships in our docks or on location, we are also one of the most important suppliers for propeller shaft installations in inland navigation within the Benelux. You will work in a team of 4 enthusiastic colleagues where there is plenty of room for training and development of your skills. We certainly invite candidates who already have some experience in metalworking and would like to develop further in turning long shafts.

Duties and responsibilities.
Engineering and work preparation for new-build and/or existing vessels
Setting up, checking and elaborating the ship design
Setting up, working out and checking the main and auxiliary systems (ship propulsion, HVAC, mechanical and electrical installations)
Setting up schematics and overview drawings
Checking and reviewing the documentation of these systems.
Maintaining contact with subcontractors, suppliers and inspection bodies
Directing a project (in consultation and cooperation with the Manager Engineering)
Maintaining and increasing technical knowledge and skills
Profile
E
xperience as a turner (conventional and/or NC) or in a similar position
Experience with long axis turning (longer than 5 meters) is a plus
Affinity with technology and ability to work accurately
Being able to read and understand technical drawings
A proactive work attitude and an eye for detail
Command of the Dutch language, English is an advantage
Living within reach of Hardinxveld-Giessendam
