A new, exciting opportunity has arisen in our European HQ in Amsterdam. As the
Director, Global Procurement Strategy Program
you will play a key leadership role within the Global Procurement organization, contributing to the development and execution of functional strategy.
You will oversee the project portfolio creation and maintenance activities for an organization managing ~$9 Billion in spend and spanning 400 FTE’s. Additionally, you will provide strategic support to the CPO across a wide array of responsibilities and initiatives including advising through external Procurement insights and best practices (basically, you will be CPO's right hand).
Frequent leadership of/ or participation in cross-functional teams is a core part of your role, including overseeing development and execution of Long term and Annual Operating plan of Global Procurement. Moreover, you will implement and ensure execution of key initiatives against timeline and deliverables, including identifying bottlenecks, resolving issues and driving towards effective and standardized completion.
You will require significant amount of internal engagement, utilizing strong interpersonal skills, influence management and change management.
Your key tasks
- Drive project pipeline and prioritization to ensure Procurement is focused on most important projects with the highest impact on the enterprise (ensure the pipeline of projects at any given moment to deliver LRP savings target.).
- Oversee the key activities and milestones needed to create the future year savings plan.
- Coordinate efforts from all categories to deliver savings according to planned timelines.
- Provide strategic support to CPO including oversight of strategic agendas.
- Tracking priority initiatives for the CPO and identifying any obstacles and propose resolutions, run and analyze reports in support of CPO priorities.
- Pulling together and managing project teams that require input from multiple areas within the company.
- Act as a conduit to/from the GP PMO team to provide input to/support on strategic programs or initiatives that cut across multiple teams within Global Procurement.
- Align and oversee department objectives and management processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and process improvements.
- Lead AOP & LRP process for Procurement. Collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain and Procurement teams to define and monitor the process. Drive preparation and reporting.
- Coordinate validation of monthly savings reporting, proactively work with categories management team and Regional Procurement to drive initiatives to close any gaps and meet or exceed the goals. Ensure accuracy and consistency of monthly savings reporting.
- Provide decision support through data gathering, information analyzing, and presenting considerations to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with Global Procurement and Corporate Communications on preparation and execution of all GP Communication vehicles.
- Support the CPO in communication plan with and to stakeholders. Drafting internal and external speeches and presentations in collaboration with GP and Corporate Communications.
- Preparing and organizing and /or host periodic progress meetings and steering committees with team and senior management and multidisciplinary teams.
- Identifying and taking on ad hoc strategic projects.
Your profile
- Education Required: University degree in Finance/ Procurement/Engineering/HR or equivalent
- Experience Required: 5+ years’ experience in Procurement Management or Procurement Consulting Function
- Experience Preferred: 7+ years’ experience in Project Management or Consulting; Previous experience in strategic sourcing and category management; Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working in a global environment, leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple simultaneous projects
- Excellent written and spoken English, Strong MS Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent understanding of procurement best practices, policies and tools
- Experience and high comfort level working directly with executives
- First class interpersonal skills with a strong client focus, excellent ability to craft and deliver written and oral communication, translate complex abstract ideas into simple messages, influence audiences w/o having a formal authority, lead change management both internally and externally
- Strong multi-cultural skills, high energy level and a bias towards action
- Ability to develop strategic vision, translate it into tactical plans and manage the change required to execute
- Strong analytical and reporting skills. Managing data and information to report KPI’s and update progress against program objectives
- Superior financial modeling and problem solving skills. Financial acumen; strong understanding of cost structure and savings driver
- Ability to work under pressure, deliver on strict deadlines but with an ability to be versatile and work through ambiguity
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
