Dow has two openings for
Process Automation Engineers
at its location in
Terneuzen, The Netherlands.
This position acts as a technical resource and process control lead for capital and improvement projects. These projects include implementing Dow’s most effective technology, incremental process technology improvements and solutions new to Dow’s businesses. The individual is fully qualified and proficient in the application of chemical engineering fundamentals and independently applies this knowledge. The individual is also expected to provide technical expertise as a part of related global networks. The individual must be able to work with minimal supervision and be self directed.This person will also lead the effort to develop and implement the appropriate process control and process automation strategies and solutions for the chemical process equipment involved. For opportunity investigations in Dow facilities, the incumbent will work with Dow businesses on the evaluation of data and use of specific methodologies to clarify the potential opportunities. Good organizational skills and ability to simultaneously lead several smaller projects or lead a team of process automation engineers on a large global capital project is required. This job requires excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills coupled with a strong technical background. Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively sell ideas to all job levels is required.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Lead process control team(s) responsible for implementation of process control solutions to capture improvement opportunities.
• Set aggressive project improvement goals, and plan, track and drive the implementation team to achieve those goals
• Coach and mentor team members in the effective use of Six Sigma methodologies, Dow project work processes and reducing variability of project deliverables
• Developing process control strategies for process technologies
• Programming of control applications for various distributed control systems
• Writing simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators
• Participate in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops
• Deliver value to Dow businesses through effective use of Six Sigma methodologies, asset utilization and project work processes
• Lead process control improvement investigation team(s) as per Dow’s work process methodology
• Deliver the identified value, and meet the agreed upon project milestones

Qualifications

• Master of Science Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent Process Automation/Chemical Industry experience) is required.
• Broad knowledge and skills in all aspects of Process Control Engineering with a minimum of 5 years in a process control role is preferred, not required.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a chemical manufacturing plant is required.
• In depth knowledge of applying ABB Industrial IT distributed control systems and/or in depth knowledge of applying Honeywell distributed control systems is preferred, not required.
• Fluent in Dutch and English
