Do you never stop talking about your work in leisure and events? Share your passion with young professionals in the making and apply as a lecturer for 0.6-0.8FTE at the Academy for Leisure & Events (ALE) of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas). You will put your working experience and network contacts to use and support our students in becoming professionals within this fascinating industry. No better place to do all this than at our green, sustainable campus and specialist, small-scale institute near the city centre of Breda.

About this job

As a lecturer (0.6-0.8FTE) at the Academy for Leisure & Events (ALE) you will be given the opportunity to guide and support our students in growing into young professionals within the field of leisure & events management. You will work together with other lecturers and support staff in an informal and close community. In addition to teaching, you will supervise students during their work placement or graduation project and help develop educational materials. Your knowledge and relevant networks within the industry will contribute to further strengthen our connections. You will be working with students in their propaedeutic year, and supervising students during their work placements or graduation projects. As a lecturer within our academy you will mainly focus on guiding students. Our students work on different forms of challenges in small-scale learning communities. You will be the person connecting these challenges, different students, industry and practice together, to create meaningful learning experiences. You are not the one who knows all the answers, but you are the one who guides students where to find them. At BUas we operate on a team-based working principle where responsibilities and authority are assigned to the teams within the Academy. What do we offer?

• The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €4,535.76 and a monthly maximum of €6,359.47 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);
• This position is classified in scale 11 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be that of lecturer;
• This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of a one-time extension for another year;
• Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport;
• You will receive a contribution towards your health insurance costs;
• You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December and an annual holiday allowance of 8% in May;
• You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost 11 weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position;
• You will build up an attractive pension through the ABP pension fund;

What do we ask of you?

• You have a relevant master’s degree;
• You have relevant working experience in the field of events;
• You are passionate about your work and would like to share this passion with our students and others. You have creative and fresh ideas on how to share this information and knowledge;
• You have teaching experience or are willing to obtain a teaching certificate;
• You are comfortable being part of the learning process of students. You are not the one who knows all the answers, and you will also learn new things every day;
• You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch is a necessity.
