Internship Assignment: Improving Tablet Formulation and Production

Objective

The primary goal of this internship assignment is to enhance the quality of tablet formulations produced on our new tablet manufacturing machine. This involves understanding and improving the powder properties of the blends used in tablet production to achieve superior tablet characteristics.

Assignment Details Trainee RI FCA Beverages

• Literature Review

Conduct a review of existing literature on tablet formulation and manufacturing processes. Focus on the impact of powder properties on tablet quality, including flowability, compressibility, and moisture content.

• Assessment of Current Processes

Analyse the current tablet formulation and production processes in place.

• Identify any challenges or limitations with the existing powder blends and tablet quality.
• Powder Property Analysis
• Investigate the properties of the powder blends used for tablet production.
• Utilize techniques such as particle size analysis, density measurements, and flowability tests to assess the current blends.
• Improvement Strategies

Develop strategies to enhance the powder properties, which may include:
Adjusting the formulation components (excipients, active ingredients).

• Exploring different mixing techniques or equipment.
• Implementing changes in processing conditions (temperature, humidity).
• Experimental Work
• Conduct experiments to test the proposed improvements.
• Produce tablets using the new formulations and evaluate their quality based on criteria such as hardness, disintegration time, and dissolution rate.
• Data Analysis
• Analyse the results of the experiments to determine the effectiveness of the improvements.
• Use statistical methods to validate the findings and ensure reliability.
• Reporting
• Prepare a comprehensive report detailing the findings, methodologies, and recommendations for future tablet production.
• Present the results to the team, highlighting key improvements and their potential impact on product quality.

Improved tablet formulations that meet or exceed current quality standards.
