The Spain Team is a growing, dynamic unit established in 2024, based in Barcelona (Sarria-Sant Gervasi). You will be joining a highly qualified team, including our Country Manager and an Innovation Consultant, collaborating closely with colleagues in the Netherlands to drive impact globally. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and expanding division, where your contributions will directly shape business development efforts in Spain’s Life Sciences & Health sector. Our Spain based consultants are integrated into our teams based in the Netherlands and work on the projects together with our consultants based in Netherlands.

For our Spain Team we are looking for a:

SENIOR INNOVATION CONSULTANT

(CALLING APPLICANTS WITH BOTH SPANISH & ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCED INNOVATION CONSULTANTS)
As Senior Innovation Consultant, you have what it takes to bring innovations to live. You can quickly identify the key challenges in our client’s innovation development path and define the right projects that will help our clients to overcome these challenges and create impact. Our Senior Innovation Consultant is the ‘quality booster’ and ‘domain expert’ within the department. As Senior, you independently and successfully lead multi-stakeholder projects, act as a role model in designing and delivering high-quality service to our clients and support more junior consultants in their job. With your experience and knowledge, you play an essential role in quality assurance and optimization of our projects and improving our services within the department. You have profound domain expertise, and establis and maintain an active network of clients and generate new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Independently design strategies to advance innovations and projects for our clients in the fields of Life Sciences & Health, Green & Sustainable Innovations and Industrial & Ditial tech.
• Independently develop project proposals for our clients.
• Independently coordinate and manage multi-stakeholder project applications, design financing strategies, writing project proposals, business cases and business plans for clients.
• Accompany Country Manager / Business Developers to client meetings to close the deals.
• Providing strategic advice to our clients on innovation, financing, commercialization and/or development strategies and positioning of their innovations and technologies towards funding agencies.
• Actively thinking with clients about business, commercialization and/or development strategies and positioning of their innovations and technologies.
• Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with our clients, and actively manage key client accounts.
• Bring together companies, universities, and research institutes to establish long-term partnerships.
• Actively follow new developments and innovations in the industry and contribute to strengthen our expertise.
• Identify and act on new opportunities for clients to pro-actively support them to advance their innovations and create new business opportunities.
• Identify and act on new funding opportunities for our established clients.
• Establish and maintain an active network of key accounts and pro-actively act upon business opportunities by engaging from established expertise.
• Act as an expert and keep track of new insights and trends in a certain domain

Quality assurance and improvements within the department

• Guiding and coaching of fellow team members.

Qualifications

• Passion for innovations in the fields of Life Sciences & Health, Green & Sustainable Innovations or Industrial & Digital tech. Experience is preferred.
• A relevant Master’s degree, preferably with a Science and/or business focus.
• Substantial experience (5+ years) in grant writing such as EIC Accelerators, writing strategic plans or business plans, science communication, or in managing and coordinating large projects.
• At least 5 years of work experience in a commercial environment, preferably in a supporting role to business development teams in a consulting/advisory firm.
• Demonstrable insights into the development of Scientific innovations, from ideation to commercialization.
• Strong understanding of the local Spanish grants/loans such as NEOTEC, RETOS Colaboracion, ENISA Loans, Torres Quevedo, R&D Nuclis Accio.
• Proven track record in writing and securing natonal Spanish grants, including knowledge of the application process, timelines and guidelines.
• Based in Spain.
