Museum docent

Do you get everyone excited about history and know how to captivate any audience? Do you have experience guiding groups and can you create a safe, inspiring environment? Then the position of Museum Educator is for you!

Volunteer speaking:

Every class is different and to get every child involved in the lesson, that’s what I do it for.

Department and role

As a museum docent, you will receive and guide groups who have booked an activity at Museum Batavialand, such as guided tours or educational programs. You will work with school groups and give guided tours to various visitors. Preferably you have affinity with our themes: water management, reclamation, the history of Flevoland, historical shipbuilding and the 17th century. We are happy to discuss the possibilities together. You will work closely with Titia van de Bongardt, our education officer.

What do we expect from you?

• You are enthusiastic, make contact easily and take initiative.
• Your commitment is a maximum of 2.5 hours per school program, workshop or museum lesson. You will set up the necessary materials yourself.
• You communicate clearly at different levels.
• You have developed teaching skills through experience.
• You can handle stress, are flexible and punctual.
• You are available on weekdays and occasional weekends.
• You will participate in the free course we offer for new museum teachers. This course covers three days per year.
• You will receive FAFS training.
