Open Arms seeks youth worker

Open Arms is a Christian volunteer organisation in Rotterdam with almost a hundred volunteers. Together, we try to be good news for local residents in the Het Lage Land neighbourhood.

In our meeting centre Het Palet, there is plenty to do and find: language classes, social work, thrift shop, Eat Together, Bible Café, food bank distribution point, Refurbishment, Lunch Café, Creacafe, etc. Meeting, building relationships, acting together with a low threshold are important core values in our work in the neighbourhood.

Open Arms
was initiated in 2009 from local Reformed churches and is now organised as a foundation led by a board with two professional community workers.
Open Arms wants to expand its already existing range of activities to include activities for youth in the neighbourhood. Therefore, we are looking for a

youth worker for 24 hours a week
.
What do we expect from you/

Core tasks:

• Setting up and coordinating children's and youth work.
• Leading the volunteers involved in the work.
• Recruitment, equipping and mentoring of volunteers.
• Be a point of contact in contacts with other youth workers, organisations and institutions in the district.

Who are you/

• You are a church-involved Christian, living and working by personal faith.
• You have good ideas and are able to develop vision for youth work.
• You know how to use social media to reach young people skillfully.
• You have social skills and can work well independently.
• You are a creative thinker as well as a doer.
• You can shape and implement ideas and activities in collaboration with others.
• You have social and coaching skills and are able to build trusting relationships with young people.
• You have a completed degree in Social Work, CMV, SCW or a relevant agogical course.
• You preferably live in, or at a maximum travel time of 45 minutes from, Rotterdam-Alexanderpolder.

What can you expect from us?
An exciting, independent position in a challenging environment with plenty of scope for initiative and personal development. Initially, this is a temporary job for one year (with the intention of a longer period). Salary depends on education and experience with scale 8 or 9. Secondary employment conditions are in line with the employment conditions regulation for church employees of the Protestant Church. A certificate of good conduct is required and will be requested prior to commencing employment.
