We are now looking for senior, tech lead and principal level java backend engineers to join this amazing journey!

Your role: Principal Java Backend Engineer Amsterdam

As a
Principal Java Backend Engineer Amsterdam you will
play a fundamental role building and keeping the best engineering culture
on the planet, while working to
shape and implement the ambitious roadmap(s)
, work on
architecture/design
, act as
domain lead on key (backend) parts of the product
and
mentor some of the smartest engineers
around to grow. Of course as one of the most elite backend engineers you will still get to
get your hands dirty to code on key parts of the systems
, tasked to
help scale the product from millions to hundreds of millions in the coming 1 to 2 years
.

You will be heavily involved in

architecture, design, building brand new systems

while continuously helping to improve what has already been built.

To give you some idea: One of the teams is responsible for
bringing new people on the platform.
In this data driven team there is a lot of
freedom and room for experimentation
and thinking outside the box! One of the other
deals with millions of payments
, as the product is used by consumers and businesses alike.
Another team is r
esponsible for building the systems that are used by some of the biggest clients on the planet!
With tens of thousands of users using the product at the same time. These present very complex UX, software and data problems. Although they have many more teams you can help, work in and help grow!

What is required?

10+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Years of experience with

architecture and design on systems of scale

Experience setting up and working on roadmapping

• (production) experience with

Java8+

Solid knowledge about data structures, design patterns and

the inner workings of commonly used frameworks

Experience with

mentoring and helping other engineers thrive

A polyglot and customer centric mindset

Experience working on

software products, SaaS would be a plus

Good communicator

, solid team player and

strong problem solver

A BSc or MSc in computer science

or similar is a plus

• Experience with

Spring (Boot) is a plus

• Experience with

Postgres and/or Redis

is a plus

• Experience with

Docker and Kubernetes

is a plus
